What is this?

Flock of ideas is a project aiming to enable youth and young professional involvement in urban planing, design and applied arts. We will be organizing 5 challenge-sharing events in different municipalities in Latvia and Estonia. Each will be composed of a workshop, design competition, and voting session. Participation will be open to all and free of charge.

Why?

There is a lack of possibility for youth to be involved in the planning of the city. Current system of tenders does not allow for flexibility or meaningful involvement within the design phase.

For whom?

For municipalities - excellent way to obtain fresh ideas, new insights, and foster public involvement while finding meaningful solutions for their current challenges. For educational institutions - an opportunity to integrate a time-limited design challenge within their teaching curriculum.

How?

We are seeking municipalities willing to get involved in the process of creating a design challenge that tackles their local problems that might find a solution through design.

Process?

Each challenge consists of 3 stages:

Workshop format will depend on the challenge. At this stage the younger participants, locals and anyone interested will be able to participate in the formation of the competitions brief.

Competition is aimed at all young professionals and students who find the competition topic suitable to their skills. Each competition will require a submission of 1-6 images and a supplementary text.

Jury - will explore various ways of voting and feedbacking submitted works. Suffrage will be given to public, independent experts, university teachers and participants themselves.
